Cosmetology Program
The primary purpose of the Cosmetology Course is to train future graduates in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgements, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to pass the State Board examination and for competency in job entry-level positions in Cosmetology or a related career field. Our curriculum focuses on the students's development of techniques that will be applied in real life working environments. You will be learning the Vidal Sassoon techniques in haircutting as well as cutting edge techniques in hair coloring and styling.

- Theory of cosmetology, anatomy, physiology, and histology of the body, electricity, diseases, and disorders

- State cosmetology laws and rules
- Clinical and laboratory cosmetology, including theory that involves nails, hair, and skin
- Principles and practices of infection control and safety
- Recognition of diseases and the treatment of disorders of the hair, skin, and nails
- Treatment of hair, skin, and nails
- Interpersonal skills and professional ethics
- Product pharmacology and chemistry interaction, formulation, composition, and hazards
- Cosmetology machines, tools, and instruments and their related uses
- Chemical texturizing
- Changing existing hair color
- Hair and scalp care
- Principles of hairstyling, including braiding and extensions
- Body, scalp, and facial massage and manipulations
- Hair cutting fundamentals
- Principles of esthetics of the body and face
- Principles of nail technology
- Clinical and laboratory practice that includes hair, skin, and nails
- Alternative hair, skin, and nail technology
- Pre- and post-client consultation, documentation, and analysis
- Body and facial hair removal (except by electrolysis or laser)
The cosmetology program consists of four phases: VIP- The introduction of the fundamentals, STAR- The refinement of practical skills, CELEBRITY- Preparation for a successful career, and HANDS ON EXPERIENCE- Time spent in a real world setting.
